2) Biltmore Forest
The town of Biltmore Forest is located in the Asheville Metropolitan Area. The land was once part of the Biltmore Estate, but a flood in 1916 caused heavy damage. The land was sold shortly thereafter to alleviate the tax burden. The average income is $85,044, and as of 2010, the population was 1,343. Residents enjoy easy access to the Biltmore Estate, the Blue Ridge Mountains and the city of Asheville. The Biltmore Forest Historic District was declared eligible for the National Register of Historic Places in 1990 due to concentrated efforts in planning, landscaping, architecture and zoning restrictions. This includes the Biltmore Forest Country Club, an invitation-only organization with platinum status, which is in the top 3 percent of private clubs.
