10 Worst Cities in the United States for Violent Crime

6) Milwaukee

Milwaukee is a city on the coast of Wisconsin, and is in fact the largest city in the state. Yet its high violent crime rate, 1,596.1 per 100,000 people, is a safety concern, particularly in certain neighborhoods. The overall crime safety rating compared to other United States cities is a 3 out of 100, and there have been recent increases, especially in aggravated assault. Annually, Milwaukee is the location of over 5,000 such assaults, and thousands of robberies as well. Some of the worst neighborhoods in Milwaukee are towards the middle of the city, although they are a bit scattered, and include the area near W Pierce Street and S 16th Street. There are also relatively safe neighborhoods in the city though, which have lower crime rates. The safest of these is the area of W Mill Road and N 115th Street, which has moderate real estate prices and low rates of childhood poverty.
