6) TV and Radio Announcer
In past decades, radio and television have dominated media. As such, TV and radio announcers have been in demand. However, with the growth of the internet, other sources of entertainment are gaining popularity. To become an announcer, you generally need a Bachelor’s degree and internship or work experience. The median salary is a bit over $32,000, according to Kiplinger, and median part-time pay is just under $15 per hour, according to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics. Kiplinger also expects that in the span of 2016-2026, there will be a 10% decrease in these announcing jobs. Thus, to go into the field, you would need a sizable amount of related experience. There are some other career paths with better prospects that utilize similar skill sets, however. For example, the demand for party emcees and DJ’s is expected to increase in coming years.
