9 Cheapest Places to Live in Florida
4) Safety Harbor
Located in the Tampa-St. Petersburg metro area, Safety Harbor has an overall lower than average cost of living. Home prices are just slightly higher than average here, however. It’s just a short ride to the city amenities, airport access and beautiful area beaches. In 2013 the population was around 17,000. Its beautifully tree-lined streets and quaint small-town charm are some of the features that attract people. It’s also home to a natural mineral spring. Espiritu Santo Springs (Springs of the Holy Spirit) was given its name by Spanish Explorer Hernando de Soto in 1539. He was said to have been in search of the mythical “Fountain of Youth” at the time he discovered it. Residents here enjoy a wide selection of parks and recreational activities. Their mission statement is to “increase the quality of life through parks, events, recreation and play for residents and visitors.”
