9 Reasons Senior Communities are Getting Wild
7) Social Media and the Internet
If you think you’re the only one using Facebook or Twitter, think again. Seniors are using social networking sites and the internet as well. There’s just one difference: they may not play online poker or Farmville that often. They are corresponding more with other people and reading their responses. This has given them more opportunities to meet people and date.
For example, before the internet, there were fewer opportunities for seniors to meet people of their own age group. Mature people can now sign up on websites like Match.com and find their peers. They don’t have to sit home and brood all day long when their Facebook inbox has five unread messages. In other words, the web hasn’t only redefined the way young people live; old folks have also been subtly benefiting from it.
