People fall for this because credit card companies have a similar tactic which is legal. If you have ever had bad credit you know it can be difficult to obtain a credit card and begin rebuilding your credit. There are several credit card companies that will offer you a low balance credit card usually around $300, if you pay the upfront annual fee of $125.  Unfortunately, scammers will mimic this offer. The difference you will find within a couple weeks when you don’t actually receive a card, and any numbers you try to call from your email and the website are nonexistent.

If you are desperate for credit, do your diligence and go directly to a bank’s website and apply for the card there. Do your research, and take the necessary precautions .
